Want to grub with a Mixergy interviewee in your city? (Space is VERY limited.)

A have an incredible opportunity for a (very) small number of Mixergy fans, thanks to GrubWithUs.

The challenge

Have you ever heard me say that you should get to know the founders featured on Mixergy, and thought to yourself, “I really should, but how?”

Getting to know someone online is tough because it’s impersonal. And meetups aren’t ideal either, because it’s hard to have meaningful conversations in busy rooms that are full of people.

The idea

I think I found a way for you to do it.

Dinner.

Later this month, founders who I’ve featured on this site are organizing small, quiet dinners in their cities.

Keeping it small

I keep emphasizing that it’s small because I believe that’s the key to making this work. A few weeks ago I organized a local dinner with Mixergy fans, and on the way out, someone said to me, “I actually got to know every single person at the table.” That’s what I’m going for here.

Want to join?

So, if you want to join us, go to GrubWithUs.com/Mixergy and add yourself to the guest list.

Who will be there?

Bo Fishback
Co-Founder & CEO of Zaarly, the site that can get you pretty much anything you need local. (I used them to find someone to deliver my groceries.)

David Rusenko
Founder & CEO of Weebly, the platform that makes it easy to build a web site. (I literally built a web site using Weebly while interviewing David.)

Ramit Sethi
NYT Bestselling Author of I Will Teach You To Be Rich, the book that’s based on the site that teaches smart personal finance and entrepreneurship skills. (When I needed help with the business side of Mixergy, I called him and he showed me what to do.)

Eddy Lu
Co-Founder & CEO of Grubwithus, the site that helps you organize meaningful dinners. (When you click over, I bet you’ll understand why I used Eddy’s site for these dinners.)

Frank Gruber
Co-Founder & CEO of Tech Cocktail, which hosts tech events across the country and covers the industry on its site. (Frank can get founders who won’t return my phone calls to fly out to his events.)

Marc Nager
CEO of Startup Weekend, the event that enables you to launch a startup in 54 hours. (I don’t think anyone has launched more startups than Marc and his organization.)

  • http://mixergy.com Andrew Warner

    Totally.

I know you’ll be glad you did it.

  • http://mixergy.com Andrew Warner

If you help me organize one, I’ll do it.

The key is finding an interviewee. Which one is near you?

  • http://mixergy.com Andrew Warner

I’d love it, but if you want to make it happen, let’s find an interviewee who wants to come to the dinner.

  • http://mixergy.com Andrew Warner

Help me find an interviewee there and I’ll organize the event with you.

  • -IH

Awesome! Yes, I noticed you on there and remember thinking, “Meeting Andrew’s mentor will be so meta”.. :)  Will be nice putting a face to a name Andrew’s mentioned so many times.

Andrew if you are ever in New Zealand I would love to put on a GrubWithUS.  You can get me at tony@momug.net

You should ask Harley Finkelstein to do one in their city, Ottawa. That way the event can be truly international. No founders were I live :(. But I would like to see some stuff happening in Canada still.

Also Ryan Holmes, founder of Hootsuite which is based in BC should be a good candidate to host a dinner in Vancouver.

  • David

Great idea! Who can we invite to south beach or fort lauderdale?

  • Carlos Solorio

Just signed up w/ Ramit!  Thanks Andrew!

    Bring it to Berlin!

  • http://mixergy.com Andrew Warner

You’ll be glad you did. Ramit has helped me a TON over the years.

  • http://mixergy.com Andrew Warner

I’m not sure, but if you find a past interviewee, I’ll help promote it.

  • http://mixergy.com Andrew Warner

Do it. Michael, you should lead that. Reach out to them and ask if they’d head a dinner. I’ll promote it.

  • http://mixergy.com Andrew Warner

Help me do it. Find an interviewee who will come to the dinner and I’ll promote it.

  • http://mixergy.com Andrew Warner

Good idea. I can’t think of anyone who I interviewed there, but I’m sure I have.

  • Sam O

Andrew – I’m in New Zealand and I remember you interviewed Rod Drury – any chance he’d be keen to do a GrubWithUs dinner?

  • http://twitter.com/yagudaev Michael Yagudaev

Yeah you are right Andrew. I just mentioned to someone today that, whenever you say to yourself “somebody should really do this…”; you have to realize you are indeed somebody, and therefore should do it.

I should start following my own advice more :).

yes there are a few in Chicago so we should definitely organize that.

I see there are 8 cities on the Mixergy Grubwithus page that people can join.  Do you have to add another (ie Chicago) or can we do it from that page
