How can anyone compete with a site created by CitrusByte? They’re a Web development agency that essentially develops a new Internet company every few weeks.

I met Will Jessup, the founder, at one of my events, but it wasn’t until recently that I realized why so many Web companies in SoCal use his agency to build their sites.

I told him I was having trouble getting guests to mix on Mixergy.com. So as a favor, he invited me to his office (a huge house in Sherman Oaks), where he ripped my site apart and remade it.

“If you want guests to mix,” he asked, “why is the mixing part all the way at the bottom of your invitations?” Good point.

“If you want people to create invitations, why isn’t there a ‘create your invitation’ button on every page?” Also a good point.

He made a bunch of good points. Then he started sketching out what my site could look like. It was just quick sketches designed to help me start thinking differently, but they were very helpful.

I’ll start to implement some of what Will showed me. It’ll take me some time, but I know you’ll see a difference.

What would you do differently on Mixergy.com? Let me know in the comments below or by email.
