About Gary Vaynerchuk

Gary Vaynerchuk is ringing up millions in sales and making himself famous at the same time.
He helped his father’s New Jersey liquor store grow to over $50 million in sales by developing a contagious passion for both wine and business. He went on to create Wine Library TV, a high-octane show about wine. And in his spare time, he teaches business people how to hustle and grow kick-ass companies.
About this interview
My focus with this interview is on how Gary built up his online business using his personality and determination. His story will be a chapter in my upcoming book on scrappy upstarts.
Your input
- A lot has been written about Gary already. What’s missing? What haven’t others talked about?
- What questions do have for Gary?
- How can I make this interview so good that you’ll talk about it for decades?

Hi Andrew,
I am REALLY looking forward to this interview. I would be sooooooooo grateful if you could ask him the two following questions for me
1. What are his specific tips for engaging the audience and building relationships on your own site
and 2) (I know i asked you this question too already, but i would love his perspective also) –
Which is better? a) Average Idea, Great Execution or b) Great Idea, Average Execution?
Thank you so much.
Man, cant we post video comments on here? :p I'd post the video question just to get attention for my question. lol

Thanks. Great questions. I'll do my best to ask them. The focus of the
interview will be on the story of how he built Winelibrary TV. But I'm going
to see if I can fit these questions in to deepen the understanding.

Andrew,
I canNOT wait for this interview. I'm a recently converted 'VAYniac' and would love to hear his story in this platform.
It is my understanding Gary was never a sommelier neither did he ever receive formal training to taste and critique wine; his knowledge and expertise were self-taught. I'm curious to see how he was able become such a star online. There's one thing to be just a local expert/favorite and another to have a big, loyal following online. How was he able to transfer his local fame to the online realm? Secondly, how was he, then able to build his credibility further to ultimately establish himself as a power player online?
I feel there are tons of local experts out there but Gary was able to take his services to the local community, tweak it, and make it accessible to every person with an internet connection.
Thanks Andrew!

Congrats on getting Gary on the show!
You should ask him about how he goes about vetting all the opportunities and offers that are presented to him on a daily & weekly basis. I remember his Web 2.0 Expo Keynote, he talked about turning away TV show offers, and multiple other opportunities, yet he recently signed on for a 10-book deal, which obviously won't convey his enthusiasm and energy nearly as well as a TV show would. Why pick one over the other?

Great questions Matt.
I wonder what kind of TV show he has in mind for himself.
By the way, congratulations on the launch of Flippa.

I didn't even realize had local fame before. Thanks for telling me.
I love that he's coming on Mixergy. Can't wait for this one.

I noticed Gary recently started having eps of the Thunder Show on hulu.com, which is growing as an online TV platform in an of itself. Maybe this is more valuable than taking on a traditional TV series? I wonder how that came about, the hulu.com thing.
Looking forward to it!
