Within 18 months of launching his soda company, Nutrisoda, Joe Heron sold it to PepsiAmericas. He did it by offering something that ordinary sodas don’t have: health benefits. Now he’s back with a new beverage company, Crispin Cider. And he’s taking on the giants in the beer industry by offering something outside their specialty: hard cider that you drink over ice.
Even though I usually interview internet entrepreneurs on Mixergy, I wanted to introduce you to Joe’s story because I think we can learn a lot from it. Joe Heron is the founder of The Crispin Cider Company, which is dedicated to the development and marketing of superior pure hard apple cider refreshment. In 2003, Joe, who was previously the Senior Vice President of Novartis Medical Nutrition, and his wife, Lesley Heron, founded NutriSoda, which was sold to PepsiAmericas the second largest Pepsi bottler in the world.
