Doba: How Shutting A Previous Startup Led To This Hit Business – with Jeremy Hanks
Jeremy Hanks dropped out of school to work on his big idea, which ended up failing. In this interview, you’ll hear how that might have been the best thing that ever happened to him.
His original startup, Geartrade.com, was an online marketplace for closeout equipment in the outdoor recreation vertical. Though he had to sell its assets to pay off debt, it opened his eyes to the huge inventory that brick and mortar stores had to invest in. In the online world, he realized, stores shouldn’t have to invest in any inventory. They could have it all drop-shipped.
But finding the right drop-shipper and placing an order was cumbersome. So he launched Doba, a subscription-based service that made it dead-easy for online merchants to find and work with drop shippers.
Jeremy Hanks is the Co-Founder / Chairman & President of Doba, which is what people in the retail industry refer to as “a product sourcing marketplace” or “drop-ship aggregator.”
