The Unknown Founder Who Got 10% of Broadcast.com – with Chris Jaeb

Chris Jaeb, Common Ground Kauai, Customer Acquisition, Mental Game, Selling 1-on-1

Chris Jaeb had an idea for enabling out-of-town spots fans to hear their favorite teams’ games. To make it work, he had to keep calling sports teams and persuade them to let him broadcast their games. If you’ve ever cold-called then you know the work is full of rejection, but he kept at his vision.

He also talked to over 100 investors, all of whom turned down the opportunity to invest in his company. Then he met Mark Cuban, who said “I’m in” within minutes of being pitched.

Since recording this interview, I’ve heard that Mark had a similar idea independently. So maybe that’s why he offered to invest so quickly.

The technology Chris proposed was eventually ditched, but all those connections he made from endless phone calls led him to 10% of what became one of the internet’s legendary grand slam businesses.
