WordPress To Do List

Posted on Nov 25, 2009 - 7:12 AM PST

to-do-list-150x150

Whenever a reader sends me an issue with my Wordpress installation, I'll add it to this list. If another reader knows how to fix the issue, please let me know.

The To Do List

- On the homepage, the images next to each post should be clickable. Clicking them should lead to the post.

- When I'm logged in, I need to have an edit button on each post, so I can make quick corrections..

(Right now, I have to hunt down each post in my WordPress dashboard to edit it.)

- I think the text on my site is hard to read. I should probably make it as easy to read as Neil's site.

- I heard my site doesn't show up properly in Internet Explorer. The right margin is pushed down to the bottom of the page.

- When my site is auto-submitted to Facebook, the image of my top interviewee shows up instead of the Mixergy logo. Here's an example.

- My theme can't show bullets. That's why I'm using dashes in this list.

    Hi Andrew,

I can help you get most of the items on this list done. Just drop me an email ;)
  • Thanks!

Are you free for a call on Monday @ 10 AM Pacific? If not, just suggest
other times and we'll make it happen.

I'm very grateful for the help Jorge!
  • Jorge
Sure! That would be 2pm *our* time, right?

Do you prefer to call me to a US land line, AR mobile or Skype? Anything works for me.

No prob on the help, you have helped me a lot with the interviews already ;)
  • Andrew,

I really enjoy your interviews, I am constantly checking to see if there is a new one up. So even with your rapid rate of fire there is still a thirst for more.

Here are a couple of suggestions :

1 - Business is business, I am starting a software company but I would be interested in interviews with ambitious upstarts from lots of other areas also, perhaps you could find a another curious interviewer to start interviewing in say retail or restaurants. I imagine if you had a series of interviews with people running successful restaurants many people would find that interesting. Mixergy could end up with many 'channels'.

2 - You could create a forum on your site with say a $5 a month membership fee. The fee is not to provide you with revenue but to make the forum community higher quality, with less spam and bad behavior. You could build a great discussion community for ambitious upstarts because you have a natural flow of new topics of conversation, your interviews.

    Cheers

5 bucks a month,, I would pay, especially if I can learn something from it.
  • Thanks. Great suggestions. I need to focus on getting my current interviews published properly, but I'd try both of those suggestions in the future.

I especially like idea #1. I hadn't thought of doing it the way you suggested. Great idea.
  • For this item: "When my site is auto-submitted to Facebook, the image of my top interviewee shows up instead of the Mixergy logo".

You need to set up an image_src meta tag. Here is the documentation from facebook:
