When I posted my “Tips on World Domination” interview with Chris Guillebeau, I asked the audience to help me summarize it.

I expected to get a small tip from 5 to 10 people. Instead, 2 viewers created full-blown summaries. Check them out and tell me what you think (in the comments or via my contact page).

Daniel Kupermans Summary

1. Set a goal. And break it down into achievable milestones (example from interview: going to 192 countries, but doing it one at a time, writing 1000 words a day, etc.)2. The more you achieve the harder it gets, but don’t get discouraged (Chris is on his way to achieving his goal of visiting 192 countries, but the more he visits, the harder it gets, but he is not giving up and keeps pushing forward)

3. The key question you should ask yourself is “what do you really want to do”? If you’re not doing what you “really want to do” right now, unlikely you’ll be successful. That’s what should keep you going, doing what you *really* want to do.

4. Consistency of message is key. Chris’s website has a unique design that fits with his message.

5. For people to buy your product (they will be investing time and money) you have to clearly answer the instrinsic question of “What’s in it for me?”. Put yourself in your buyer’s shoes and ask it for everything you are trying to put out there.

6. If you provide something of value, something that will help people in one way or another, in a concise and easy to digest manner, you’re more likely to get people to show an interest (example is Chris’ ebook about frequent flyer miles and how all the info is available online but he packaged all that stuff into an eBook, which saves people time and gives them the best stuff without requiring them to go find it themselves)

7. Want something? Then commit to it. Create a schedule, set a goal and don’t let other things get in your way (example is Chris’ writing and his commitment to himself o write and never missing a post)

8. Movements need leaders (“consensus is overrated”).

9. You don’t have to have all the answers, actually not having all the answers make you more human.

10. Have a clear message. Even if you’re still trying to figure out what the right message is, always be clear.

11. We can all change the world, we all have a special talent that can be used for the greater good.

12. People like bold statements (it differentiates you from the rest), it could work in your favor.

13. Have a clear benefit to the user/buyer (example: Chris’ eBook about becoming a frequent flyer promises people they will get 25K frequent flyer miles, and his Travel Ninja site didn’t have a clear benefit to the occasional traveller that didn’t want to become a “travel ninja”, only wanted to know how to get the best deal for his next trip)

14. Make the “about” section of your website a top priority, that’s where people will look for more info about who you are and decide if they should trust you.

15 Plan something, keep a schedule, don’t give up.

16. Do something you’re motivated about, don’t try to motivate yourself to do something you’re not passionate about, it won’t work.
