The "pay wall" seems like a tricky science. To charge or not to charge is the question. I definitely understand if you CAN charge, and you bring value from day one, you should. Then why don't more of us do it? Why don't you, Andrew? You definitely have a site that is remarkably beneficial to anyone who listens to these interviews.

I am confused, however, about the GotCast situation - where they gave the networks free job posting space, and only after it became too valuable to lose did they make them pay for it to keep it. Doesn't this contradict charging from the beginning? Or is this not an issue in this situation because the actors were already paying from the start?

Great tip to put your pricing on a separate conversion page so you can see what works and what doesn't. Also interesting about the info on the price points, and what the traditional split is (25/50/25) for the 3-tier pricing. In addition, the penthouse pricing was great to hear, because Wil is right, there's always someone who has more money than they know what to do with - and they'll send you the moon if you can give them what they want.

Thanks Andrew and Wil!

I would like to see a $5/month Facebook and a $1/month Twitter, and see how many people would pay for those silly wastes of time.
